The southern beaches of the island of Oleron are located in the municipality of Saint-Trojan. These three beaches have different orientations, thereby the sun can be enjoyed at any time of day.
Grande-Plage has a more troubled ocean than its neighbours, which are sheltered by the proximity of the continent.
Towards the "coureau d'Oléron"
- Saint-Trojan's Petite plage: facing east, this gently sloping beach is nice for children. At high tide, pleasures of bathing can be enjoyed.
- At the south end of Little beach, Pointe Manson offers interesting views on the bridge of Oleron and on the bridge over the Seudre. Here is a sailing club, the "Club Nautique du Coureau d'Oléron".
Towards pertuis de Maumusson
- Gatseau beach: facing the mainland, from which it is separated by Pertuis de Maumusson, it is facing South.
- An hotel and a thalassotherapy center are located on this beach.
- Grande-Plage: facing west, it is one of the wildest beaches on the island. Pointe de Maumusson is located at its southern end.
- As no road reaches it, it is accessible by walking from Gatseau car park or by taking the P'tit Train from Saint-Trojan.
- Grande-Plage offers a three kilometres walk between dunes and the ocean. Sand-yachting can be practised there. Naturism is authorized in a delimited area.
