Since the nineteenth century, La Bree­les-Bains is the upper-class seaside resort on the island of Oleron.

His quiet beach, bordered by villas, has always been popular with family vacationers.

Economy

The largest company in La Brée, the marine farm of Douhet, is a leading producer of fry in France.

Remarkable places

• The mill of La Bree, which can't be visited, is the oldest of the island. Among the ten remaining mills, it is one of the best preserved. English people built most of these mills.
• In the district of La Bree-les-Bains, there is a salt pan still operating.
